Title: MARRIAGE IS LIKE A BRIDGE ON YOUR WAY
Most people can’t do without marriage. Only few are eunuchs in life. Marriage is like a bridge on your way into ministry or service for God. Marriage is important for the fulfilment of your God-ordained purpose in this life. The Bible puts marriage between your personal life and ministry in the following verses:
Ecclesiastes 9:7–11 (NKJV)
Go, eat your bread with joy,
And drink your wine with a merry heart;
For God has already accepted your works.
Let your garments always be white,
And let your head lack no oil.
Live joyfully with the wife whom you love all the days of your vain life which He has given you under the sun, all your days of vanity; for that is your portion in life, and in the labor which you perform under the sun.
Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going.
I returned and saw under the sun that—
The race is not to the swift,
Nor the battle to the strong,
Nor bread to the wise,
Nor riches to men of understanding,
Nor favor to men of skill;
But time and chance happen to them all.
This was addressed to someone already acceptable to God or already born again. Maintaining His consecration or correct life is number one. Number two is correct marriage and family life. The third is whatever your hand finds to do (ministry). Life is not about big or small things. Pleasing God is not about human abilities in you. It is more important to be in the right place or with the right spouse. Being so is far better than being swift, strong, wise, rich or skillful.
Marriage is like a bridge on your way.
Judges 4:4 (AMP)
Now Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lappidoth, judged Israel at that time.
Deborah was first a prophetess, then a wife before being a judge.
That is the order. Make sure your bridge is strong. Make sure it connects to what God wants done. Your hands may find many things. Not all of them are useful or expendable. Make the matter of the bridge more important than the work of God which should be done together with her or with him.
1 Timothy 3:2 (NKJV)
A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife…
Be sure to be a husband or a wife of one person too.
