Let us now take a look at the last verse that mentioned the ninth month  in English Bible. The context in which this month was mentioned is important to us as the people for whom these things were written. In order to understand the background, let us read more verses.

Zech 7

1  The Lord spoke to Zechariah when Darius had been king for four years. It was the 4th day of the 9th month. The name of the month was Chislev.

 2  Then the people in Bethel sent Sharezer and Regem-Melech and their men to Jerusalem. They came to ask the Lord to help them.

 3  They came to the house of the Lord Almighty to speak to the priests and to the prophets. They asked, ‘Should we cry and not eat our food in the 5th month? We have done this for many years.’ 

 4  The Lord Almighty spoke to me, Zechariah.

 5  He said, ‘Say this to all the people in this country and to the priests. “You lived in Babylon for many years. You ate no food and you were sad in the 5th month and in the 7th month. But you did not do this for me.

 6  You ate and you drank. But you ate and you drank for yourselves.

 7  These are the words that I, the Lord, spoke by my prophets in past years. At that time, the people in Jerusalem lived without trouble. Many rich people lived in Jerusalem. Also the people to the south and to the west of Jerusalem lived without trouble.” ’

 8  The Lord spoke again to Zechariah. He said,

RE-VISITING RESTITUTION

Ezr 10:16 KJV And the children of the captivity did so. And Ezra the priest, with certain chief of the fathers, after the house of their fathers, and all of them by their names, were separated, and sat down in the first day of the tenth month to examine the matter.

When this daily journal discussed about the Bible stand on restitution last month (September 2021), it was of interest to many of our readers. 

I was not surprised to hear diverse reactions. Many were blessed by it and someonw even confirmed that he had to do restitution when he became a Christian. 

One man of God asked to know whether it's possible to do all the necessary restitutions or restoration. I believe that it's the will of God that we restore all.

My answer was based on the need to dig down and meet the Rock (Jesus) before building your life.

Luk 6:47-49 KJV 47 Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like: 48 He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock. 49 But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.

I believe there are always things to dig away, since everyone is expected to have foundation. I know that it can be shocking to hear this. It shocked those who heard it from Jesus the first time.

ANOTHER WELCOME TO THE ELEVENTH MONTH

Zec 1:7 Upon the four and twentieth day of the eleventh month, which is the month Sebat, in the second year of Darius, came the word of the LORD unto Zechariah, the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo the prophet, saying,

There is a need to have another well into the 11th month. So far the 11th has about the fewest mention in the Bible. There are only three specific cases where the month is mentioned. The fourth one in Ez. 26:1 is implied. 

While Deut. 1:3 mention will lead us to talk a lot about the dealings of God we must always remember, the mention in 2 Chron 27:14 is common in every month since there is a Captain over the security in every month of the year. These things were written for our guidance. Looking into details and perculiarities of the verse for each month can be a great help for us each month. Remember that the word if God is our testimony.

We believe that since Jerusalem fell in the tenth month (2 Kgs 25:1; Jer. 39:1; 52:4, 12; Ez. 33:21), the warning to the nations that laughed when Jerusalem fell must have happened around the same time. That is why we will talk from Ez. 26:1. The month being referred to is likely to be the 11th month.

The last, but not the least mention, is in Zech. 1:7. 

Zec 1:7 Upon the four and twentieth day of the eleventh month, which is the month Sebat, in the second year of Darius, came the word of the LORD unto Zechariah, the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo the prophet, saying, 

This verse is important since it's the last mention of the 11th month in the Bible and before the New Testament.
