WHAT IS FAITH?

My brothers and sisters, as we were kneeling down at the altar of the Lokoja CEFN Zonal Headquarters while the congregation was standing last Sunday, 14th January 2024, in order to pray over our prayer requests for the year, I was begging the Lord, “LORD, PLEASE ANSWER THESE PRAYERS OF YOUR PEOPLE”.

The Lord spoke back to me. It was what He said that is making me write this to you. I shared what I heard with our leader, Rev, Malachi Ogakwu, after the prayers. 

I heard the Lord say, “Then teach them faith. Nobody receives anything from Me or please me without faith”.

I began to think of ways of helping us to get more testimonies of answered prayers in 2024. May God help our other leaders to help us develop our faith.

AGAIN WHAT IS FAITH?

        Heb 11:1-2

NOW FAITH is the assurance (the confirmation, of the title deed) of the things [we] hope for, being the proof of things [we] do not see and the conviction of their reality [faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses]. 

2 For by [faith trust and holy fervor born of faith] the men of old had divine testimony borne to them and obtained a good report. AMP

The first thing to say is that faith is different from believe. Where there is nothing believed, there cannot be faith. Why? It is because faith is what you do with your believe.  For instance, do you believe that reading the Bible will benefit you? Then reading it is faith and not reading it is lack of faith. Many Christians believe that prayer is good. How many really pray? Very few really pray. Faith is what you say or do based on your believe. Many do nothing to show that they believe.

It is why Jesus said in Luke 18:8

However, when the Son of Man comes, will He find [persistence in] faith on the earth? AMP 

It was the problem of the Old Testament brethren who received the word of God and refused to mix it with faith.

 (Heb. 4:2). So they perished in the wilderness. Believe is what you consider to be true. Faith is how you think, talk and act because of that belief.

If I tell my wife that I got an alert of N2,000, she will not be going outside to borrow N200. That will be lack of faith in me. There is nobody who will not bow down to greet a Governor that promises making him or her great? The appreciation is faith. We don't do the same if a mad man made a similar promise to us. We just laugh. When a child had asked his father for a car and that child goes on to tell his friends about his coming car, that is faith. When that child asks his father when he returns, “Where is the car?”, the child is exercising faith in the father.

Do you believe that God answers all prayers of the righteous?

         Matt 7:7-9

"Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.  8 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.  NKJV

    Mark 11:24

For this reason I am telling you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe (trust and be confident) that it is granted to you, and you will [get it]. AMP

    Matt 21:22

And whatever you ask for in prayer, having faith and [really] believing, you will receive.  AMP

Do you really believe God to have known your need before you even ask Him (Mt 6:8)? No, you don't. If you do, you will not do anything like behaving like a dog or a pig to stop God from answering you. Why do you often go back to sins you repented of? See Matt 7:6

"Do not give what is holy to the dogs; nor cast our pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you in pieces. NKJV

If you really have faith in God, you will not allow your word to contradict your expectation(s). How can you believe that God has given you riches and still be saying words lie, “I don't have such money” or “Where can I get that kind  of money?”

Matt 3:8

Bring forth fruit that is consistent with repentance [let your lives prove your change of heart] AMP 

Show that you believe that you have already received what you asked for. Faith is always now (Heb. 11:1) while hope is futuristic. If you really think that you are well, why still taking medicine? Does a healthy person really need a doctor (Mt 9:12)? The prayer of the righteous has a lot of power (Jam. 5:16). If these things are known to you, the righteous, you have high favour this year, 2024. 

Like Mary, change plans, run to your Elizabeth, a more mature believer going through a similar experience you are about to enter. Go to the wise (Prov. 15:12), any of the Ministers that knows and behaves like Jesus more than you. That is discipleship. Get pregnant, and nurse the Christ in you to maturity. Always remember that Christ is the Leader and Source of our faith (Heb. 12:2). Without Him always in us, no hope of glory, high favour or testimonies (Col. 1:27).
