MESSAGE 1 TO MEN OF GOD IN NIGERIA by Alex Oguh
MESSAGE 1 TO MEN OF GOD IN NIGERIA by Alex Oguh
MEN OF GOD IN NIGERIA, may I talk to you? I don't know much of other men God in other countries, but may I talk to you. I don't see what we are doing as reasonable.
I had a dream years ago when I was living in Felele in Lokoja. That was before I moved to town. In my dream, it was Sunday morning and I was going towards Ganaja Junction.
I came to the Post Office Junction in the Main town and saw a lot of people going in different directions to their different and various churches in the town. So some were going in my direction - towards Ganaja Junction while some were coming towards the direction I was coming from. Some others were heading towards the Government House and the Ministry of Education while some faced the Waterside, towards the
State Ministry of Works.
There is no place you cannot get a Church to attend in Lokoja. In fact, if you spend your money for transport, it is because you want to do so, but that is not the matter. You may have your reason to go far for Service.
Squander your money if you want, but I saw a Man that morning, a Man out of scale, taller and bigger than any other man I have ever seen. I saw that some Christians, especially the children among us, would hold the fingers of this tall Man and urge Him to follow them to their churches. The Man appeared flexible enough, for He would begin following such till another child or children urge Him to go to their own Church in another direction. I saw that this Man would oblige. So I saw that He took some steps into all the four roads meeting at the Post Office Junction, but never went far from the Junction before being urged into another direction.
Then I came out of that dream. Oh, those days, I was new to dream interpretation, but this one was made clear to me.
WHAT IS THE MATTER?
What is the matter? The people are not one. We are not lifting up Jesus together. The call from the beginning of His earthly ministry to the end of it is not 'Jesus, come and follow Me. It has always been Jesus calling us to follow Him (Mt. 16:24; Mk 8:34; Lk 9:23 14:25-35). We are striving to turn His call into the opposite direction. He said, "Follow Me", but from that day I saw that we are asking Jesus to follow us. He will never follow man. He will never follow the flesh or darkness.
Please let's stop these things - not only in Lokoja or Kogi State. It's all over our country, and from the internet, I know that it is not only in our land. How can you divide God's family like this? It's unfair. Let somebody come and divide your own family like that. How dare you do that? Where do you find it from?
Definitely, not in the Bible, because the Roman Church was for disciples living in Rome. And if you are not in Rome, you may belong to the Corinthian Church. If you are not in Corinthian Church, you are in Ephesian Church. If you are not there, you are in one of those City Churches mentioned in the Bible. Belong to the City Church you want, but be one Church per city.
We have no Church per City any more; all we have are companies and interest groups and we are saying, "We are Laodecians." Jesus is at the gate saying, "Let me come in and unite you."
We say, "No, we are doing Church here for You."
That is madness. May we stop this madness. Let us do what Jesus told that man of Gadara to do. He said, "Don't follow Me."
I see us carrying Bible up and down. That is why they can 'fake' us. That is why there is 419 Church and 419 Pastor. There is 419 preaching. There is copy and paste preaching. You know why? If you follow the way of that man, the mad man of Gadara, carrying the Bible was not the first thing. The message he was told to go and preach was not a matter of deep theology and expositions. No, no, no.
It was go and tell your family and friends "What great things the God had done for you, and how He had compassion on you."
Pastors and other men of God, can we drop Bible for now and go and tell people what He had done for us? The Jesus of Nazareth of old will come alive again. We are burying Him in papers. We are burying Him in prints. He is a Man living - full of blood and life. It's not the moslems that is our problem. They also don't know that Man. We have covered Him up. Let's open Him up by our lives and let Him shine through everyone of us. If there is light, who will not like to enjoy light? The few like Judas who prefer darkness to light will run.
OR ARE WE DARKNESS?
God forbid! We must not be like what I saw in a vision recently. I saw light coming in the form of man - shinning and coming. And suddenly it faded and the whole place became dark. I asked, "Man in the image of God, where are you?" Are you still there? What happened to your battery, what, what..."
I heard him say, "I'm there. It's just that I turned to darkness."
How dare us turn to darkness when we have been made light? Please Nigerians, please Church men and women, how dare we? How can we face that man that day?
