4 IMPORTANT STEPS INTO FULNESS & ABUNDANCE
FOUR STEPS INTO FULNESS & ABUNDANCE (Joel 2:24-26)
At 2023 CEFN National Ministers’ Retreat, the Lord spoke through our General Overseer, Rev.Dr D. B. Usman (Ph. D), to the ministers and, by implication and extension, to the entire CEFN members. These important instructions came during the opening charge - in fact it was Opening Charges, as he called it.
Step 1
HAVE A CLEAR PURPOSE
Matt. 26:47-50
And while He was still speaking, behold, Judas, one of the twelve, with a great multitude with swords and clubs, came from the chief priests and elders of the people.
48 Now His betrayer had given them a sign, saying, "Whomever I kiss, He is the One; seize Him." 49 Immediately he went up to Jesus and said, "Greetings, Rabbi!" and kissed Him.
50 But Jesus said to him, "Friend, why have you come?" NKJV
Jesus was asking Judas why he came to the place that moment. He wanted to know whether Judas was there for the usual prayer retreat. The ministers were also to establish why they came to the retreat. Was it to see their friends and relatives in Anyigba or was it to buy things?
Jesus was saying, “Judas, we normally pray here. Is that why you have come?”. Judas came to that usual place with a different motive that day. Is everyone in CEFN with the same motive? Are all Council Members there for God’s glory? Not likely. We all want the theme for the year to be fulfilled in our lives. Who does not want FULNESS & ABUNDANCE (Joel 2:24-26)? The question is why do you want it? Who takes the glory if the theme is fulfilled in your life and ministry (Is. 42:8)? God does not share His glory.
Step 2
AVOID DISTRACTIONS
Luke 10:40-42
But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, "Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me."
41 And Jesus answered and said to her, "Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. 42 But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her." NKJV
Even with so many guests to cater for? Listening to God (studying the word and praying) is always the best part. Attending to Jesus like Martha was doing is good. In the same way, giving your tithes and offerings are good, but your spiritual growth is more important to God (Gal. 4:1-2). Whether Martha or any other senior brother or sister is angry or not, revelation of God to you will never be taken from you. Distraction made Martha appeared angry with Jesus, making her accuse Jesus of carelessness or nonchalant attitude about correcting Mary. Step 3
PRACTICE WHAT YOU HEAR
James 1:22-23
But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; NKJV
If we are doers of the word and thank God for every situation, why so much noise about transfers, about Church elections and appointments? Why is sin rampart even among church leaders? Practicing what you hear will bring fullness and abundance.
Step 4
TREASURE EVERY PART OF THIS RETREAT AND GOD’S OTHER DEALINGS
Matt 6:21
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. NKJV
Treasure every meeting, every teaching you receive from God directly or through God’s servants. What you treasure, you keep in a special place. Yet some don’t remember where they place their Bible all week – till they dust it for the following Sunday Service. Is Jesus a treasure to you? Why do you think more of money than of Him? Why do you spend more time and other resources with people and things than with Him?

Perhaps you have forgotten where Jesus began your call from. See it in Message Bible.
Luke 9:23-24
Then he told them what they could expect for themselves: "Anyone who intends to come with me has to let me lead. You're not in the driver's seat — I am. Don't run from suffering; embrace it. Follow me and I'll show you how.
Perhaps you have forgotten that you are called to deny or forget yourself (Mt. 16:24; Mk 8:34). Christ in you is the hope of glory (Col. 1:27), not yourself in you. Pray about this if you really need fullness and abundance.
