3.6.23 - TRACT TO THE BODY 

Title: ONE PRAYER EVERY DISCIPLE NEEDS

LORD, Baptize Me with Fire

There are things that are difficult without a push from heaven. There are instructions from Heaven that you will never obey unless God puts fire in your tail just like Samson did to the foxes.

Matthew 3:11

I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:

Why?

Don't you see differences between Christian denominations? Some are cold, some are hot while some are just lukewarm. There can be a whole denomination where no one rises to become a State-wide evangelist. There are others that have produced many world-wide evangelists and other Christian ministers. The difference is always fire. Fire too close to you, on you or in you produces firery words and actions. Such fire makes action of immediate concern to you. You cannot prospone decisions and actions when fire is in you or too close to you. 

One Lawyer Ameh told me a story in Jos during my Youth Service. It was a story of how a filling station was ignited by fire. The matter went to Court. Some security men at the Filling Station (foreigners from Niger or Mali) were arrested and some others brought to Court as witnesses. And the Lawyers and the Judges began to ask them:

How did the fire start? 

From which direction?

What time exactly did the fire start? Those Security men and the witnesses were just amused at the questions of these learned men.

Can anybody remember such things when a filling station is on fire or when there is an explosion? There is only one thing to do when fire starts - it is to run. This is programmed into our being.

A young man was in a luxury Bus and was tuning a girl where the Bus stopped over for people to eat. Suddenly, the overhead public electricity wires began to touch each other and spark. What do you think happened? The boy jumped to first save his own life.

God is always talking. He is always asking, Isaiah 6:8 (KJV) ...Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.

Isaiah actually went and you can see the story in the book of Isaiah. Baptism of fire is needed at every stage to get Christians to do much more for God. But what happened to Isaiah before Isaiah 6? Isaiah had some fire that kept him running up to Isaiah 5. God needed him to go higher and do more.  So He made him see another fire (Is. 6:1-8). It was a baptism of fire.

Don't let any denomination limit you. They don't have Holy Ghost baptism? Seek it. They don't have baptism with fire? Ask the Lord for it. Fire or being in that fish made Jonah's message hotter. Zacharias' being dumb made the birth of John the Baptist more serious. Fire of persecutions and arrests made Paul a more prolific writer.

It was fire (after that three days dry fasting) that made Queen Esther risk her life and approached the King. 

Look around you and see men and women of God turning the world upside down in our days. You may not see it, but there is fire making them restless like Jeremiah.

Jeremiah 20:9

Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay.

Ask for fire. Ask for that baptism. Why stop with ordinary watery baptism? Cross your denominational doctrines and barriers in this. It is not a crime. Obey God for once. Ask for fire. Otherwise, how can these scriptures come true in your lifetime?

John 14:12 (KJV) Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

1 Corinthians 2:9 (KJV) But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

Matthew 28:19-20 (KJV) Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
