... then pour into all those vessels.’ Kgs 4:4.
1 Thessalonians 1:5 (KJV) For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.
You are welcome to another day. There are rumours of wars and I want you to know that every revival happens in war-like situation.
Isaiah 9:5
For every battle of the warrior is with confused noise, and garments rolled in blood; but this shall be with burning and fuel of fire.
Yes, war-like and yet a lot of joy. Jesus always thrives even as a tree coming out of dry ground. We are programmed to follow His life (Rm 8:29). No. He has taken resident in us (Jn 14:23).
These are looking contradictory, but don't worry. Jesus was not an unhappy Man. He was a man of sorrow, acquited with grieve (Is. 53:3). Can we expect better portions?
How can one be in trouble and yet be joyful? When preaching is done rightly, that is where the Spirit comes in His operations. He bears witness with our spirit (Rm 8:14, 16). This comstant assurance that we on the way, that we belong to the Kingdom, that those before us suffered the same fate are our hidden treasures.
It's unfortunate that some men of God have successfully barricaded God from the people. They tell the people:
# We will tell you everything you need to know. How can? What of the sweet communion of the Spirit? What of the inner witnessing that every christian should have?
# They tell all the children under them to tell them before travelling or do anything. Why? Have they forgotten that God expects everyone of His children to grow? Have they forgotten that they were once babes in Christ?
Paul had the inner witness in his lifetime. He would write and say, "God is my withess. I lie not". He was not lying. Our Master told us the way He walked on the Earth.
He said nothing on His own and did nothing on His own. His eyes were constantly on the Father. That is what we are expected to do - to be looking unto Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith. Any leader that does not his followers to examine Him is not of God. We are invited to look at Jesus (Is. 45:22; Heb 12:2).
Paul and Silas were in Thessalonica and they preached and the people so changed that people in the neighbouring nations knew the Gospel without Paul telling them anything.
1 Thessalonians 1:9
For they themselves shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God;
This type of preaching only comes in revival seasons. We therefore need revival every time. That is what is called being colabourers with God. The Holy does His work.
Jn 16:8-11
"When he comes, he'll expose the error of the godless world's view of sin, righteousness, and judgment: He'll show them that their refusal to believe in me is their basic sin; that righteousness comes from above, where I am with the Father, out of their sight and control; that judgment takes place as the ruler of this godless world is brought to trial and convicted.
Think about these things. Is the Holy Spirit working with your spiritual leader? Is the Spirit in charge of your congregation and the leadership? Are these things happening as your man of God preaches week to week?
Let me end with one of my stories of personal convictions. The meeting was held in Cinema, New layout, Lokoja. I don't remember the speaker's name clearly now. He is either Butu or Kutu or something.
His name was not important. It was not him I heard. It was God who pushed the matter deep into my heart
The man spoke about a parable in 1 Kings 20:39-40 (KJV) And as the king passed by, he cried unto the king: and he said, Thy servant went out into the midst of the battle; and, behold, a man turned aside, and brought a man unto me, and said, Keep this man: if by any means he be missing, then shall thy life be for his life, or else thou shalt pay a talent of silver.
And as thy servant was busy here and there, he was gone. And the king of Israel said unto him, So shall thy judgment be; thyself hast decided it.
I was caught in the web. I had allowed some assignments God put in my hads to go unfinished. I left the meeting crying and I was travelling to Felele in a public Bus. Shame was not important. The Gospel had become the power of God to me.
Have you exprienced comvictions before? Cry for more. No transformation till the Spirit has worked in your heart. Lord, do it again. Tears help my own heart. Make me cry. Bend me inside. Set your fire in me - not this modern Holy Ghost fire that burns away no chaff. Cleanse me. That is my plea.
What is your own plead this day? Are you guilty or guiltless?
