... then pour into all those vessels.’ Kgs 4:4.
Sorry that I couldn't keep my promise to continue the journal on 22nd as promised. There were other pressing matters. You know that even what is right has to be done in the right way.
We have a booket on that. We call it 'DUE ORDER - Even What Is Right Has to Be Done In the Right Way'. The price of the hard copy is two hundred naira (N200). You can get the soft copy free. You may wish to order it.
We are talking about pouring in. It is not just about that oil in that window's hand. It is about teaching and getting every available vessel filled to the brim with the life of God.
Must they be filled to the brim? Yes! The stone pots Jesus used to turn water to wine had to be filled to the brim.
John 2:7 (KJV) Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.
Must they be filled to the brim? Yes! See Matthew 13:52
Then said he unto them, Therefore every scribe which is instructed unto the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old.
Every correct disciple ought to be filled.to the brim with the life of Christ, not just His knowledge, wisdom, power, etc. It is the life of Christ that is the oil. Inside the real disciples is the fulness of the old and new.
What the beggar at the Beautiful Gate thought he needed was some money for him to keep living to be begging. What the disciples gave him were strong legs to stop his beggarly career.
I was converted at the end of 1991 and in 1995, I was back in the village, having come out of the contract business that was full of corruption, and with very lean resources. I went to a nearby town (Anyigba) and at the Unity Roundabout there, my car developed a mechanical problem. My propeller shaft got worn out and I couldn't move.
Implications for me were great. No money on me. I put my head on the steering wheel and, maybe, prayed. I reached out out and grasped the paper bible by my side and opened it. My eyes fell on Isaiah 41:17-20 (KJV) When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongue faileth for thirst, I the LORD will hear them, I the God of Israel will not forsake them.
I will open rivers in high places, and fountains in the midst of the valleys: I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water.
I will plant in the wilderness the cedar, the shittah tree, and the myrtle, and the oil tree; I will set in the desert the fir tree, and the pine, and the box tree together:
That they may see, and know, and consider, and understand together, that the hand of the LORD hath done this, and the Holy One of Israel hath created it.
I was overwhelmed when more and more understandings flowed into me. What? A large cup of water was all that the thirsty person needed. God says that He would open rivers to the person?
How could that be about me without money to just repair this car? Somehow peace flooded my heart. I heard His voice saying, "Give the car to the Mechanic and return home before coming to pay and collect it. I was filled with hope that I will get money to get the car repaired. It happened according to the word of the Lord to me then.
The Lord had filled me with old and new answers. It was comfort for my situation then and there was hope in it about my future. Wilderness will not be forever.
Not that it was all clear to me then. It has taken years of following Christ for me to be so certain that the answer was not just for then. Our Lord and Master talks old and new all the time. The future is contained in the Old Testament as much as the fulfiment of the shadow is evident in the New Testament. Our God is a wonder.
These are mysteries of the kingdom every disciple should know about. The mystery is Christ (Col. 1:27). Absence from Christ even in a bible study or preaching is absence of glory.
I was sitting in a Bible Study recently and I pitied the Pastor. He was following a Bible Study outline that was based on a topic. All kinds of Bible quotations were used, but since the central message is not Christ and Him crucified, there was not clear pattern for the people to follow.
The study was more like an academic exercise or philosophical discuss. Oh, that we all become what Jesus wanted. Disciple-making is the work. Becoming like Christ (Rm 8:29) is the curriculum.
Any progress that cannot be measured is not work at all. Once we make Christ the standard (our example as in 1 Jn 2:6), our works and walks in life become measurable.
See the assessment method in Eph. 4:13-15. Are we, leaders, equiping the saints? Are we ourselves equiped or instructed? Here are the signs:
1. Faith like Christ's
2. Height of knowledge of the Son of God.
3. Our spiritual stature as.compared to Christ's
4. Are we acting mature or childish?
5. Are we tossed by winds of doctrines - prosperity preaching, deliverance, etc?
6. Do we always speak in love? Christians must not quarel (2 Tim 2:24). Arguing about differneces in doctrines are quarrels.
Measure yourself this day. Use Christ as your measuring Instrument (ruler, mudu, weighing machine, litre, etc). Write.down your impressions.
