It is sweet to hear the voice of the Lord. Last Sunday, while praying for our brothers that were kidnapped, the Lord expressed His displeasure that His people do not understand His ways. He explained that we need to be brought before governors and kings so that we witness to them. Unless their times are up, no hair will be affected while they are before the governors and kings (kidnappers). The brothers were released yesterday and I thank God for His ways.

How I wish that our people understand what being christians mean. It is permitting Jesus to live His life and do His work inside you and through you. 

It is why there is urgent need for discipleship. Only disciples are available for the words and will of the Lord to be poured into them. Others are vessels owned by the neighbours of the Lord (money, other idols, pride, ambition, etc.).

While the Lord was here physically, He kept saying, "If (not when and  not compulsory) anyone wants to follow Me, let him deny (say no, give up, stop driving) himself. As you you read Mt 16:24; Mk 8:34; Lk 9:23; 14:25-33 in different versions and translations, you will come to the full meanings of His call on your life and my life.

Here are what happens when a vessel or life has been filled. He or she:

1. Becomes like a city (not just a point of light) on a hill (Mt 5:14).

2. Becomes empty of hypocristy (Lk 12:1-4).

3. Has rivers (not springs or streams of works, words, writings, signs and wonders, knowledge, wisdom, understanding, etc) flowing from inside him or her (Jn. 7:37-39). All this is because the Lord is already resident inside the person (Jn 14:23).

4. Has become drunk with the Holy Spirit as sinners get drunk with wine (Eph. 5:18)

5. Has the word of God richly inside along with grace. Such persons speak to others in Psalms, spiritual songs and in hynms (Col. 3:16).

6. Has purpose in life. He or she is concerned about only one matter - the kingdom of God (Mt. 6:33).

7. Does what Jesus would have been doing on earth if He is to be back here before the time of judgement. Let quote this. John 20:21 (KJV)  Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.

We have just finished Kogi State Clergy Retreat and I thank all the ministers that came. May the above signs follow you. I pray for all those who could not come. May God help you to attend the next one in Jesus name.

There is no way out for the Church in Nigeria if not through discipleship. Do you see another way?
