2 Kings 4:4 (KJV)  And when thou art come in, thou shalt shut the door upon thee and upon thy sons, and shalt pour out into all those vessels, and thou shalt set aside that which is full.

We are coming to the end of this sub-topic in the 2021 Ministers' Leadership Retreat Bible Study we are following. Let us take the commentary under the study we have followed this month.

F. ‘And when you have come in, you shall shut the door behind you and your sons.’ 2 Kg 4:4; Mk. 3:13-19; Mk. 9:2, 28-29; Matt 5:1-2; Mk, 6:30-32; 10:41-42 (GNB), Jn 20:19-25

i) What does that mean? 

Behind the shut door was the woman, her sons and the vessels before the filling with oil began. The pouring of the oil into the vessels takes place most of the time in the private, in the absence of the crowd. It is not wrong to exclude the crowd when pounng into disciples’ lives. Also, the vessels to be filled, the woman and her sons were available for the exercise. The disciples were also available and Christ was there to fill them. 
He gave His time and attention to instruct and teach them and to answer their questions. He took them to the mountains apart and was with them behind closed doors and in private and secret places, in gardens and by the riverside, just to shut in with them. This is crucial in revival. There must not only be multiplication of disciples but also the ‘pouring of the oil' into their vessels to deepen them in the faith and make them sendable and usable. 
ii) What is the purpose of this instruction as we labour over souls? 
There is no instant usable vessel. Usable vessels are made, not bought. Even when vessels are available, deliberate effort must be made to make them before they can become effective vessels for revival. Jesus laboured this way on His disciples before they became useful for kingdom purposes. We must deliberately create time and attention to exclusively shut in with the souls God gives us in order to pour the oil into them without any distraction. 

Have a good night. Be available to Jesus for.filling tomorrow morning. Even now as in Job 5:17-18 and in Gen. 2:8, God desires to visit Man every time it is cool in the day.
