‘AND WHEN YOU HAVE COME IN, YOU SHALL SHUT THE DOOR BEHIND YOU AND YOUR SONS.’ 11

2 Kings 4:4 (KJV) And when thou art come in, thou shalt shut the door upon thee and upon thy sons, and shalt pour out into all those vessels, and thou shalt set aside that which is full.
Matthew 5:1-3 (KJV) And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him:
And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,
Blessed are the poor in spirit: for their's is the kingdom of heaven.
Welcome to another Sunday. How I wish that all men of God use the situation on the ground to equip our brothers and sisters in the Church denominations all over the land.
The Church is always in war (Mt 16:18). Our King has few soldiers and we have a horde of men coming against us. Our God would first sit down to check whether, with 10,000 He can overcome their own 20,000.
What does He check? He checks whether we have the keys of the kingdom. Since we didn't write yesterday, we are still on the third key in Mt 5:5.
Matthew 5:5 (KJV) Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
We recently lost a Christian sister in Sokoto. Part of what happened could have been avoided. How? By using the third key in the beatitude - by being humble. The matter hit me strongly as I came across Prov. 15:1 this morning.
Proverbs 15:1 (KJV) A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.
Our Master is still our best example in this. In His case, He had a lot of power. Yet we see Him as He was arrested and led away. Even the enemies fell down, He didn't use the opportunity to run away.
1. He healed an enemy whose ear was cut by Peter.
2. He spoke to them gently. He asked Judas, "Friend, why have you come?" In (Mt 26:50 NKJV). The rendering in NIV is "Friend, do what you came for."
It was not only that He didn't insult or fight them, He didn't allow any of His dollowers to fight for Him. He didn't call for angels or Holy Ghost fire. We need to train our Church members to be more like Jesus.
In answer to the High Priest's question: "Tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of God", His answer was "It is as You said" (Mt 26:64).
The soldiers took our Master aside and dealt with Him. He didn't appeal to Ceazaar on that. The Governor asked Him to say if He was the King of the Jews. His answer was, "It is as you said."
He didn't shout. He didn't curse. What a way to die. How can someone going home be so afraid of dying? Jesus and His true followers must see dying as going home.
So the third of the be-attitude is Matthew 5:5 (KJV) Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
"Happy are those who are humble; they will receive what God has promised! (GNB Mt 5:5 ).
We overcome if we allow God to be our only defender. Daniel didn't struggle with those leading him to the Den of lions neither did his three friend fight those who came to carry them into that terrible fire. Stephen did more. Like his Master, he prayed for those stoning him.
Let Christians in Nigeria attain the standard and talk and act like the Master and our perfect example. Can you come up hither? Jesus is always climbing higher up the Mountain and is always calling us to come to Him
Would you like to be like Him in dying? Pray about it.
