2Ki 4:3 KJV Then he said, Go, borrow thee vessels abroad of all thy neighbours, even empty vessels; borrow not a few.

Luke 10:33 (KJV)  But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,

We concluded yesterday by asking: Do you still want to be denominational minded? Your being deniminationa-minded is stopping the world from knowing Jesus.

Everyone knows God to a degree . We all know that God is nice. So ordinary people could see that the Samaritan who had compassion on the wounded man did better than the Priest and the Levite who just looked at him and continued their journeys.

Stories like the one Jesus used are common daily stories in our day. That story is like saying that a man was travelling from Abuja to Lokoja or Anyigba and robbers attacked him, took his car and all that he had and left him wounded and bleeding.

The a Bishop of a powerful denomination came to the scene of the incident. The people who stopped were many. Some were crying because of the situation. Many had no means to help, but they knew the Bishop because of the uniform of ministry and the big cross on his chest. The man just made sure that the wounded man was not his Church member. Then he drive off.

Later another man of God came. He was not called Bishop, even though he knew what Bishos know. He was Eld. Somebody. He also had a cross hanging in his car. He could carry this man to the nearest hospital, but he did not. His interest was to know whether the wounded man was an Elder too. You see they have a meeting of their Church denominational Elders. In fact somebody in the crownd around the incident recognized this Elder and called him by his title.

They just exchanged pleasanteries and after finding out that the wounded man was not one of their members and is not an Igala man, he entered his car and zoomed off.  That is how people knew him to be a Church worker.

Suddenly a political Tug came to the place and, on seeing the poor man lying there, he ordered his Boys to put the man in the car. He drove straight to the Specialist Hospital in Lokoja and paid for the treatment. He slept in Lokoja just to monitor the man's treatment. Even the first amount that had to be deposited was staggering.

The Doctors assured the Tug the following day that the wounded man was responding to treatment. "Is he able to talk yet?" No but he will be fine after some days. The tug left another big amount of money - N200,0000 - with the hospital and and promised to add more if necessary. He then proceeded on his journey without yet knowing the tribe and the faith of the wounded man.

Jesus simply asked that Lawyer who was pretending not to know who a true neigbour is:
Luke 10:37 (KJV)  And he said, He that shewed mercy on him. Then said Jesus unto him, Go, and do thou likewise.

Go and do likewise. Stop trying to know a person's Church denomination before assisting your neighbours. Your neighbiurs are the people you come across in your walk of life. I used to think that my neighbours are those whose houses or offices are very close to mine.

Your Church has a lot of money and there is a Church along your way that has been struggling to build their Hall for worship. They are your neighbour now. Do something about them. Help them and see that it will be easier to borrow empty vessels from them.

Is your own wife sick? Or is she just complaining that you do not give her enough time to talk to you? Treat her like a neighbour. Give her attention. What of your child's school feel? Are you aware that they are harassing him or her in school? Treat that child as a neighbour. Pay the school fees.

But what of your neigbour's children. Are they sent back home for not paying the school fees?  Be compassionate. Don't ask which Church or Mosque they attend. Pay the fees if you can.

On vehalf of God, I call on all Christians to break through denominational walls by showing love like the Good Samaritan (Lk 10:30-37).
