SET ASIDE FULL ONES 5

[6TH -7TH JULY 2022 - 6-7.7.22) WFT *WISDOM FOR TODAY * Real
Evangelism* by Bro. Alex Oguh)

H. '... and set aside the full ones.’ 2 Ky 4:4.

The full vessels are to be aside, not discarded. They may go on to fill other vessels and again return to be filled too. Paul set aside Mark (Acts 15:38) and called for him later (2 Tim. 4:11).

Doing things the way of the Lord will stop further pliferation of denominations. Gehazi sinned and Elisha set him aside in a bad way. God's people suffered for that. No one to direct God's people after Elisha died. Syria had a field day defeating Israel over and over. There was nobody like Elisha who could hear what was discussed in Syria.

We must make every efforts to ensure that our King lives forever. God is our King. Though God is Almighty, He cannot do much without a man to partner with on the Earth. May our King live forever.

That was the way people greet their Kings in the Old Testament and in modern cultures. For the King to live forever, three areas of agreements are needed.
1. The outgoing King must endorse the incoming one. Transfer of the Kingdom to Solomon was smooth because of this.
2. The people must accept the incoming King. When the people of the northern Kingdom rejected Rehoboam, he couldn't rule over them. People's concept is very important for smooth continuity.
3. Finally and most importantly, God must endorse the appointment of the new leader.

When the three happen, people have rest. God's endorsement is the most important one. Events in the book of Judges clearly make this clear. Everyone the Spirit came upon became their leader and as long as such leaders lived, there was peace for the people.

Judges 2:18
And when the LORD raised them up judges, then the LORD was with the judge, and delivered them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge: for it repented the LORD because of their groanings by reason of them that oppressed them and vexed them.

When Jesus came in the physical, His appointment was entirely of God. His words and works attracted people of God to Him. Before He left the Earth, He filled some people with Himself (Jn 14:21, 23) and even made some leaders out of those that followed Him in the physical. These leaders (Peter, James, John  Andrew) were acceptable to the people of God.

That was why there was unity in the midst of the early disciples. No denomination was formed while those types of leaders lasted on the Earth. They were people made into God's image and likeness.

Can there such people on Earth today? Yes! There are disciples on the Earth right now.  They are more than the number that Jesus first left behind. Why are they not followed?

There can be only two reasons.
1. Outgoing disciplers are not doing a good job of handing over authority as Moses did for Joshua. The outgoing disciplrs may be setting aside in wrong ways. They discard instead of simply setting aside. Even after Paul set aside Timothy in Ephesus, he kept writing him letters. We must not be like Elisha who set Gehazi aside with leprosy.

2. The second reason why the disciples lack impact is because of the people they are likely to be calling the people of God. At every time in history there two different groups that appear to be God's people.

Abraham and a few of his descendants were correct. Yet all the descendants of Abraham - good or bad - are called God's people. When Jesus was physically here, there were the people of Israel who are described as God's people. Only a small group among them became Jesus' disciples. These disciples multiplied themselves so much that they make many Gentiles people of God in line with the New Testament.

Why do I explain all these? I want real disciples to stop running away from the denominations where they are now. Jesus never separated Himself. Neither did Peter or Paul. Many of the people persecuting you are people heading towards heaven.

Spiritual leaders of old didn't run. No matter what people say, the leaders in the book of Judges stayed on. Not even Moses was wholly welcomed by his people in Egypt. Yet he stayed. Jeremiah suffered in the hands of the general people of God. Yet he stayed on and made a point.
.
Don't start another denominatipn. Stop this madness. Have we forgotten that our unity or oneness is the best way for the world to know that Jesus was sent by the Father?

John 17:21 (KJV)  That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.
